How do you calculate calories burned in the Lifesum app?

To automatically track calories burned, you can connect your Lifesum account to Apple Health, Google Fit, Samsung Health, Runkeeper, Fitbit, Moves, Jawbone, and Endomondo. You can also log activities manually by choosing an activity in our exercise list and enter the duration of the activity. Lifesum adapts your daily calorie budget after logging a workout, meaning if you move – you should eat a bit more.

Is the number of calories burned accurate?

If you choose automatic tracking and use an exercise tracker during your workout, the calorie count is as accurate as it can be with today’s technology. The calorie count in the exercise list is an estimate of what the average person burn. However, the calories burned varies depending on your body composition (how much body fat and muscle you have).

Will I lose weight faster if I burn more calories?

Yes and no. To lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit and eat less than you consume. The most pain-free way to do this is by eating a healthy diet with enough nutrients to keep you full and satisfied, combined with some exercise. There are however some things to consider. The more you exercise, the hungrier you become, meaning it will be more painful to sustain a calorie deficit. Also, if you burn much more than you eat, you risk losing muscle mass which is of great importance for your health, metabolism and look. When signing up for a Lifesum account, we’ll guide you on the perfect daily amount of calories to reach your goal.
